China's Auto Imports Drop 12.8% Year-on-Year to 43,000 Units in July 2026

According to data from China's General Administration of Customs compiled by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, in July 2026, China imported 43,000 complete vehicles, up 13.0% month-over-month but down 12.8% year-over-year. The import value amounted to USD 2.12 billion (approximately RMB 14.245 billion), an increase of 11.8% month-over-month but a decrease of 15.5% year-over-year. From January to July 2026, China imported a total of 244,000 complete vehicles, down 10.9% year-over-year, with a total import value of USD 11.56 billion (approximately RMB 77.676 billion), down 18.0% year-over-year. Additionally, in the full year of 2025, China imported 476,000 complete vehicles, down 32.4% year-over-year, with an import value of USD 23.64 billion (approximately RMB 160.409 billion), down 39.7% year-over-year.
