Nidec Reveals Internal Investigation Findings: 844 Quality Control Violations Over the Past Decade

Recently, Japanese electric motor manufacturer Nidec released the findings of an internal investigation. The probe revealed that the company had committed 844 quality control-related violations over the past decade, with the earliest incidents dating back to 2012. This investigation was launched following the exposure of Nidec's financial misconduct in 2025. According to disclosures, most violations involved unauthorized changes to product materials or manufacturing processes without approval. Some cases included falsifying product test results and mislabeling product origin information. Company executives stated that nearly all violations were carried out by employees. The investigation did not disclose specific details of the individual violations. At a press conference, Nidec CEO Mitsuya Kishida apologized to investors, group companies, customers, and the broader public. He stated that no safety issues linked to these violations have been identified to date, so no large-scale recalls will be initiated. The company is currently reviewing and enhancing its quality control systems. Founded in 1973, Nidec employs over 100,000 people and manufactures a wide range of electric motors used in applications such as water pumps, air conditioners, robots, sensors, and electronic devices. Its motors are also used in automotive components, including driver-assistance systems and vehicle thermal management systems.
