On September 8, underlying resources and code references in Tesla app version 4.60.5 revealed that Tesla is designing an interface for customers visiting service centers to select alternative transportation options. The interface text reads: “Your default transportation option has been selected. If you’d like to choose a different option, please select below. We’ll do our best to accommodate your preference based on vehicle availability and scheduling.” Transportation options appearing in the code include: sv_transport_robotaxi (Robotaxi), sv_transport_paid_loaner (paid loaner vehicle), sv_transport_e_bike (e-bike), and sv_transport_bolt (Bolt). Currently, Tesla provides free loaner vehicles for longer repairs and offers Uber ride vouchers when backup vehicles are unavailable. Tesla has not yet officially announced when it will begin offering Robotaxi services to transport customers to and from service appointments. Tesla’s Robotaxi service currently operates in seven U.S. metropolitan areas: Austin, Dallas, Houston, Miami, Orlando, Tampa, and the San Francisco Bay Area. Last week, the two-seat autonomous Cybercab joined the Robotaxi fleet in Austin, commencing public ride services.
