Dongfeng Group to unveil self-developed 350Wh/kg hybrid solid-liquid battery in October, mass production slated for Q4 2026

On September 9, 2026, Yu Zheng, Deputy General Manager of Dongfeng Motor Group, revealed at the Intelligent Industry Ecosystem Forum (2026) that the company’s self-developed 350Wh/kg hybrid solid-liquid battery is scheduled for launch in October and will enter mass production and be installed in vehicles in the fourth quarter of 2026. At the 21st Shanghai International Automobile Manufacturing Technology & Equipment and Materials Exhibition held in July 2026, Zhang Wei, Operation Manager of New Battery Technologies at Dongfeng Motor Group’s R&D General Institute and Advanced Technology Research Institute, disclosed that Dongfeng aims to deploy 100 demonstration vehicles equipped with solid-state batteries by the end of 2026; achieve small-scale mass production of solid-state battery-equipped vehicles around 2030; and realize large-scale mass production and widespread adoption of solid-state batteries around 2035. Zhang also revealed that Dongfeng completed winter testing of its 350Wh/kg solid-state battery in January 2026 and plans to implement it in vehicle applications in the fourth quarter of 2026. In 2027, the company targets delivering 50,000 vehicles featuring its self-developed solid-state batteries to the market, while advancing the deployment of fast-charging solid-state battery vehicles and initiating pilot production of 350Wh/kg fast-charging solid-state batteries in the same year. In June 2025, Dongfeng commissioned its solid-state battery laboratory and completed construction and commissioning of a 0.2GWh pilot production line for solid-state batteries. This marks the establishment of an integrated solid-state battery R&D and production base encompassing “laboratory – prototyping line – pilot production line.”
