U.S. to Ban Imports of Canadian Motor Vehicles and Certain Other Products Starting September 29

On September 8 local time, the White House website issued a notice stating that the Trump administration will ban imports of certain Canadian products—including alcoholic beverages, motor vehicles, and dairy products—effective September 29. On August 22, the Trump administration imposed an additional 50% tariff on hundreds of specific goods imported from Canada, including red wine and cement. Starting September 8, Canada began imposing retaliatory tariffs on over 700 U.S. goods worth approximately $20 billion.
