On September 10, Aptiv announced that its next-generation integrated smart front-facing camera has entered mass production and is being delivered at scale for the latest model from a leading Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer targeting the European Union market. Developed by Aptiv’s China R&D team based on a locally sourced automotive-grade SoC chip, the product runs Wind River Helix Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) and integrates StradVision’s visual perception technology. In terms of safety standards, the smart front-facing camera meets the E-NCAP 2026 five-star safety rating requirements. Architecturally, the product adopts a single-SoC solution integrating a microcontroller unit (MCU), reducing hardware volume by 20% and overall power consumption by 20%. On the perception side, it features an 8-megapixel camera module with a 120-degree field of view. The algorithms were co-developed by Aptiv’s teams in China and overseas. Aptiv operates over 100 engineering and technology centers and manufacturing facilities globally, enabling localized support for Chinese automakers expanding overseas—including road testing compliance, data center integration, vehicle operations and maintenance, and regulation-specific testing—covering the entire vehicle lifecycle from development and testing to certification and market launch.
