On September 9, following regulatory approval, Porsche completed the sale of its stakes in Bugatti Rimac and Rimac Group. The transaction is expected to generate approximately €1 billion (equivalent to about RMB 7.817 billion at current exchange rates), of which €250 million (approximately RMB 1.954 billion) has been set aside to fulfill pension obligations. A consortium led by HOF Capital and including Abu Dhabi-based investment firm BlueFive Capital acquired Porsche’s stake in Bugatti. Following the transaction, Rimac Group maintains its controlling stake in Bugatti Rimac, and Mate Rimac, who concurrently serves as CEO of Bugatti Rimac, will assume the role of President of Bugatti Automobiles. In 1998, Ferdinand Piëch, then CEO of Volkswagen Group, secured the rights to use the Bugatti brand name. That same year, Volkswagen Group acquired Bugatti, Lamborghini, and Bentley in succession. Subsequently, the 1,000-horsepower Veyron model was launched. Piëch passed away in 2019. In 2021, Porsche and Rimac jointly established Bugatti Rimac, with Rimac Group holding a 55% stake and Porsche holding 45%. At the same time, Porsche held a 20.6% stake in Rimac Group.
