Chery Plans to Launch Four SUVs in the UK in 2027, Including the Tiggo X

According to a report dated September 11, 2026, Chery is preparing for a new round of expansion in the UK market, planning to launch four new models and establish a research and development center in Bedfordshire. Since entering the UK market one year ago, Chery has sold approximately 29,000 vehicles. Currently, Chery offers the Tiggo 4, Tiggo 7, Tiggo 8, and Tiggo 9 in the UK. In 2027, Chery will introduce four new or updated SUVs to the UK market, among which the Tiggo X SUV—unveiled at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show—is expected to be included. The Tiggo X is a seven-seat plug-in hybrid SUV measuring 5,000 mm in length, positioned as Chery’s “new flagship.” It delivers a combined output of 476 horsepower and approximately 630 N·m of torque, with a CLTC-rated all-electric range of 200 km. The new R&D center will be located at the UTAC Millbrook proving ground in Bedfordshire. Initially, it will serve as a “translation hub,” converting feedback from local consumers and media into actionable engineering requirements for Chinese teams. Based on this input, Chery will fine-tune steering feel, chassis calibration, and advanced driver-assistance systems. The facility will also be used for trial installations and validation of new dampers, bushings, and software calibrations. Farrell Hsu, Managing Director of Chery UK, stated that the company aims to match the driving dynamics of its German competitors and ultimately equip its entire lineup with plug-in hybrid systems, allowing customers to select battery capacity based on their desired all-electric range.
