On September 11, BMW launched six special-edition M models to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Germany’s Nürburgring circuit. The “Nürburgring 100 Years” series includes the M2, M3 Sedan, M3 Touring, M4 Coupé, M5 Sedan, and M5 Touring. Combined with the M 1000 RR, M 1000 R, and M 1000 XR from BMW Motorrad, the centenary lineup comprises nine models in total. Each of the three motorcycles is limited to 100 units and available globally. All nine models feature Nürburgring-themed design elements, including exclusive “Nürburgring Green” paintwork, model-specific decals, green accents, and body graphics bearing the inscription “Nürburgring, since 1927” alongside the silhouette of the Nordschleife circuit. Customers may also opt for Sapphire Metallic paint. The M2, M3 Sedan, M4 Coupé, and M5 Sedan feature commemorative stripes on their carbon-fiber roofs, while both Touring models carry identical stripes on standard steel roofs. Interiors are finished primarily in black, accented with green and white contrast stitching. Inline-six models come equipped with an M Alcantara steering wheel featuring a red center marker at the top. The M5 Sedan and Touring share the same commemorative steering wheel design. These special editions are targeted at the European market. The M2, M3, and M4 are powered by an upgraded 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine featuring a pre-chamber ignition system to comply with Euro 7 emissions standards. The two M5 variants see their 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 output reduced by 41 hp to 536 hp. BMW has increased electric motor output to compensate, maintaining the hybrid system’s combined output at 717 hp. The Nordschleife circuit spans 20.8 km and features 73 corners. Orders for the M3 and M5 commemorative editions opened in Europe this month, while the M2 commemorative edition will become available for order in January 2027.
