Volkswagen announced via an official press release that it will unveil a new concept car, the Mission Efficiency, on September 14. A road test covering approximately 780 kilometers from Wolfsburg to Vienna will be conducted to evaluate the interplay of aerodynamics, energy efficiency, and real-world electric mobility. In the press release, Volkswagen stated that the vehicle’s mission is “to explore the limits achievable by a fully functional everyday vehicle based on production-ready technologies.” Beyond this information, the company has not yet disclosed further details about the new model. In 2013, Volkswagen launched the XL1, a limited-production vehicle with only 200 units built, achieving a combined fuel consumption of 0.9 liters per 100 kilometers. The XL1 was equipped with a 0.8-liter two-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, an electric motor, and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, delivering a total output of 55 kW and an all-electric range of 50 kilometers.
