According to Middle East shipping magazine *Robban Assafina*, citing multiple industry sources and LinkedIn information, BYD has ordered 10 liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered car carriers, each with a capacity of 9,200 CEU (car equivalent units). If confirmed, BYD’s self-owned fleet of car carriers would expand to 18 vessels, with a total transport capacity exceeding 130,000 vehicles. BYD commissioned eight car carriers in 2025. To date, BYD’s operational vessels include the Pioneer No.1 (4,000-car capacity), Changzhou, Hefei, Shenzhen (9,200-car capacity), Xi’an (9,200-car capacity), Changsha (9,200-car capacity), Zhengzhou, and Jinan. Since launching its first model in the UK market in March 2023, BYD has accumulated over 110,000 vehicle registrations there. As of August 2026, cumulative registrations in the UK exceeded 48,000 units, up 98% year-on-year, accounting for 3.48% of the UK new car market—up from 1.92% during the same period in 2025. From January to August 2026, BYD exported a total of 1,127,000 vehicles, an increase of nearly 90% compared to the same period in 2025. Additionally, BYD has launched an updated version of its Seagull model, which was previously unveiled at the 2026 Chengdu Auto Show.
