Faurecia Considers Selling Clarion Electronics Business

French automotive supplier Forvia is considering the sale of its Clarion Electronics Co. business, according to people familiar with the matter. The company is currently working with an advisory firm to evaluate strategic options for the Saitama, Japan-based unit, with potential buyers possibly including Japanese domestic companies and other Asian strategic investors. The review remains in its early stages. A Forvia spokesperson declined to comment on the report. Clarion Electronics primarily develops automotive cockpit systems, including displays, infotainment systems, driver monitoring, and automated parking technologies. In the first half of 2026, Clarion Electronics reported sales of €776.5 million (approximately $898 million), up 14% year-over-year, accounting for 7.4% of Forvia’s total sales during the same period. Clarion Electronics originated as Clarion, a Japanese manufacturer of car audio and in-vehicle navigation systems. In March 2019, French automotive supplier Faurecia (which later merged with HELLA to form Forvia) completed a full acquisition of Clarion and took it private, subsequently integrating it into Faurecia Clarion Electronics. In March 2026, Forvia announced that it would relocate the global headquarters of Faurecia Clarion Electronics back to Japan. In 2026, Forvia reached an agreement with Apollo Global Management to sell its automotive interiors business. Earlier in 2026, Forvia announced plans to split its operations into two “business clusters”—growth businesses and value businesses—and assigned Clarion Electronics to the value business segment.
