Li Shufu Outlines Geely’s 2045 Full-Chain Carbon Neutrality Goal at 2026 China Economic and Social Forum

On September 15, at the 2026 China Economic and Social Forum, Li Shufu, Chairman of Geely Holding Group, delivered a keynote speech. In his address, Li outlined three key directions for the future development of the automotive industry: First, companies must persist in collaborative technological innovation, integrating industry, academia, research institutions, and global innovation resources to jointly break through foundational technologies such as chips, large AI models, and operating systems. Second, they should continuously advance green transformation. Third, they must uphold global industrial collaboration and strengthen cooperation across industrial, standardization, and market dimensions. Li noted that Geely is consistently investing in electric and intelligent technologies as well as green methanol, building an integrated space-ground intelligent technology ecosystem, and deepening partnerships with companies including Proton, Renault, and Ford. Geely is also involved in formulating standards related to China’s dual carbon goals, has set a target of achieving full-chain carbon neutrality by 2045, and is participating in the co-creation of international ESG frameworks.
