Li Auto Addresses Safety and Repair Cost Concerns Over i9 Home's Rear Bumper-Integrated Air Suspension Reservoir

On September 16, Li Auto responded to concerns regarding the safety and repair costs of the rear bumper beam design on its all-electric SUV, the Li Auto i9 Home, which integrates an air suspension reservoir tank. The Li Auto i9 Home was launched that evening. Li Auto stated that this structure is a self-developed, next-generation patented rear bumper beam technology, utilizing proprietary aluminum alloy materials and designed and validated as an integrated unit. In terms of safety, the structure can withstand rear-end collision energy 3.3 times higher than the national standard requirement of a 50 km/h rear impact. In the event of a collision, the reserve gas in the reservoir tank is solely used to assist the air suspension in quickly raising the vehicle body; the gas inside the air springs will not leak, and the coordinated operation of the air compressor and air springs ensures the suspension’s height adjustment functionality. Regarding repair costs, Li Auto said that if repairs are needed following a collision, the cost will be priced the same as a conventional rear bumper beam, with no additional charges due to the integrated reservoir tank.
