On September 17, Bentley's official website published a post unveiling the second wave of previews for its first all-electric vehicle, the Torcal, showcasing its hand-built assembly line. Bentley announced that the Torcal will be officially unveiled on September 23 at 19:19 BST, which corresponds to 02:19 AM Beijing time on September 24. Regarding the hand-built assembly line, Bentley has invested over £350 million (approximately RMB 3.143 billion) to renovate a historic factory building at its Crewe headquarters, originally constructed in 1938. After clearing the original interior space, a high-precision level floor was installed, and automated guided vehicles (AGVs) were introduced to transport Torcal vehicles during the assembly process within the facility. The Torcal will deliver a maximum output of 850 horsepower, surpassing the Continental GT Speed’s 771 horsepower. The vehicle is built on Volkswagen Group’s premium PPE electric platform with an 800V electrical architecture, featuring the front motor from the Audi Q6 e-tron and the rear motor from the all-electric Cayenne, along with a shared 113 kWh battery pack. The Torcal is expected to accelerate from 0 to 96 km/h in under 3.0 seconds, with a top speed limited to 250 km/h. It will be equipped with air suspension, four-wheel steering, and active anti-roll bars. Inside, the new model will feature gradient wood trim, 100% Merino wool upholstery, and a curved infotainment system.
