On September 19, Wang Weiming, Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), stated at the 2026 China Automotive Industry Development (Teda) International Forum that MIIT has taken the lead in issuing the "15th Five-Year Plan for the Development of Intelligent Connected New Energy Vehicles." Moving forward, MIIT will work with relevant departments to implement measures including vehicle trade-in programs, promoting new energy vehicles in rural areas, pilot projects to address gaps in county-level charging and battery-swapping infrastructure, integrated hydrogen applications, systematic promotion of large-scale adoption of new energy heavy-duty trucks, introduction of regulations on vehicle modifications, and strengthening the automotive export support system.
