Zhang Xiaoyu Says Changan Has Completed 1 Million Kilometers of Road Testing at 2026 Tianjin Auto Forum

On September 19, the 2026 TEDA Automotive Forum opened in Tianjin. At the High-End Insight Forum, Zhang Xiaoyu—Chief Scientist of China Changan Automobile Group, Executive Vice President of Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd., and Director of the National Key Laboratory of Intelligent Vehicle Safety Technology—stated, "Safety concerns and lack of trust remain users' core worries about intelligent driving assistance technologies." He pointed out that although the penetration rate of driver-assistance systems is rising, their low usage rate fundamentally stems from a lack of user trust. Zhang Xiaoyu noted that data-driven approaches are reshaping the paradigm of driving algorithm development, shifting from rule-based to data-driven methodologies. Leveraging the Tianshu large model—a single-stage, end-to-end, multimodal interactive large model—China Changan has realized integrated capabilities including perception, visual processing, motion control, vehicle balance, and emotional response. As one of the first nationwide entities to implement L3-level autonomous driving, China Changan’s executives and professional teams have completed one million kilometers of road testing across 45 cities. As of the Sixth Technology Ecosystem Conference on September 3, cumulative user mileage reached 1.539 billion kilometers, with AEB (Automatic Emergency Braking) interventions triggered 1,520 times and automated parking functions activated 1,243 times. Zhang Xiaoyu emphasized that intelligent vehicles must effectively connect three ecosystems: users, services, and industry. China Changan has already collaborated with diverse partners—including traffic platforms, capital providers, and ICT technology suppliers—to jointly support the implementation of goals aligned with the 15th Five-Year Plan period. China Changan is advancing four strategic transformations: intelligentization, greening (reducing carbon emissions across the full product lifecycle), integration, and globalization (shifting from “product going global” to “industry going global”).
