On September 19, the 2026 TEDA Automotive Forum opened in Tianjin Binhai New Area. In her opening remarks, Zhang Guihua, Deputy District Mayor of Binhai New Area, revealed that the region has gathered over 1,200 key enterprises in vehicle manufacturing and parts production, including FAW-Volkswagen, FAW Toyota, Great Wall Motor, and Geely Auto, with an annual vehicle production capacity of 1.35 million units and an automotive industry chain output value exceeding RMB 180 billion. The total industrial output value of designated-size enterprises in Binhai New Area has surpassed RMB 1.1 trillion, ranking second among national-level new areas. Zhang Guihua stated that in the first half of 2026, Binhai New Area’s new energy vehicle (NEV) output increased by 38.2% year-on-year, outpacing the national average growth rate by 30 percentage points.
