U.S. Gas Prices Rise, 56% of American Drivers Consider Switching to EVs

After taking office, the Republican Party eliminated tax incentives for electric vehicles and adopted more lenient emissions standards. Affected by the U.S.-Iran conflict and the situation in the Middle East, diesel prices at U.S. gas stations have exceeded $6 per gallon (approximately RMB 40.3), equivalent to about $1.59 per liter (approximately RMB 10.7). Regular gasoline prices are slightly above $4.30 per gallon (approximately RMB 28.9), or about $1.14 per liter (approximately RMB 7.7). According to a joint study by HERE Technologies and SBD Automotive, 56% of U.S. vehicle owners are currently considering purchasing an electric vehicle, compared to 10% in 2025. Regarding charging infrastructure, 47% of respondents now believe that EV charging facilities are sufficient, up from 28% in 2025; additionally, 85% of current EV owners say existing charging infrastructure meets their needs.
