In response to the recent understanding reached between China and the EU on hybrid vehicle trade, several domestic automakers have recently traveled to Beijing to consult with relevant authorities. A person familiar with the matter said the quota plan has a limited total volume, and each company will not be allocated a large export quota, so automakers are currently striving to secure their share. The second regular meeting of the China-EU Trade and Investment Consultation Mechanism was held in Beijing on October 8-9. After intensive consultations, the two sides reached an understanding on hybrid vehicle trade in a manner consistent with WTO rules. A spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce said on October 12 that regarding hybrid vehicles, the two sides reached an upward arrangement on the basis of 302,000 units to ensure Chinese companies' export space and stable growth, accommodating the reasonable concerns of both industries based on reality.
