NIO Announces Battery Swap Service Surpasses 130 Million

On November 3, NIO officially announced that at 18:53:21 that day, NIO battery swaps surpassed 130 million. The 88 days between the 120 millionth and 130 millionth swaps saw average daily swaps exceed 110,000, with a NIO, ONVO, or firefly vehicle departing a swap station every 0.77 seconds on average. As of November 3, NIO had deployed 9,792 battery charging and swapping stations across China, including 4,236 swap stations, 5,556 charging stations, and 32,261 charging piles. NIO has now connected 92 scenic power-up routes and plans to build 100 in total. Previously, NIO battery swaps surpassed 100 million on the evening of February 6, with the 100 millionth swap user from Haining, Zhejiang Province, driving an ET5T. At 8:09:16 on August 7, NIO's battery swap service surpassed 120 million. On the same day the 120 millionth swap was reached, NIO's 4,000th swap station and first fifth-generation swap station were inaugurated at the Quanzhou Overseas Chinese Sports Stadium in Fujian. The first batch of fifth-generation swap stations began operating that day in seven cities: Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Suzhou, Hefei, Chengdu, and Quanzhou. The fifth-generation swap station uses a self-developed all-new battery swap platform, supports a maximum wheelbase of 3.5 meters, and is compatible with all models from the three brands NIO, ONVO, and firefly. firefly officially joined NIO's battery swap system that day. Public information shows that the construction cost of a single swap station is about 1.5 million yuan. NIO founder William Li has said that a swap station can be profitable at an average of 60 swaps per day, and the fifth-generation swap station has a maximum daily service capacity of more than 500 swaps. NIO's cumulative investment in charging and swapping has exceeded 20 billion yuan. Regarding the battery swap alliance, since Changan Automobile became the first to sign a battery swap cooperation framework with NIO in November 2023, Geely, Chery, JAC, GAC, Lotus, FAW, and other automakers have successively joined, with CATL participating as an investor. On September 26, with the 4,125th NIO swap station going into operation at Sayram Lake, NIO's Silk Road battery swap route was fully connected. The route runs from Xi'an, Shaanxi in the east to Khorgos, Xinjiang in the west, spanning 3,605 kilometers with 33 NIO swap stations along the way. firefly is NIO's third brand, and its first model of the same name was officially launched on April 19, 2025, with a starting price of 119,800 yuan.
