1. Geely chooses Swedish company as the preferred autopilot supplier
Geely Automobile has announced that it has cooperated with Zenuity as the preferred supplier of vehicle driving assistance (ADAS) and autonomous driving vehicle software, and Zenuity's products will be applied to Geely's various automobile brand models.
In 2017, Volvo formed a joint venture, Venuity, with Veoneer, which was separated from Autoliv, and is committed to the development of autonomous vehicle software.
At the beginning of 2019, Zenuity was allowed to conduct autonomous driving road test on the Swiss highway. The tested Volvo vehicles were run by trained drivers. If the vehicle is traveling at a maximum speed of less than 50 mph, the driver can completely remove the hands from the steering wheel.
2. BMW and Tencent will build an automatic driving calculation center in Tianjin
Recently, BMW and Tencent announced that they will jointly establish a computing center in China to promote the development of self-driving cars in China. It is reported that the computing center will be built in Tianjin and is expected to begin operations by the end of 2019.
According to BMW, the new computing center will make full use of Tencent's cloud computing and big data capabilities to provide the "infrastructure" needed to develop autonomous vehicles, helping to achieve semi-automatic driving and full automatic driving.
At the 2019 China Innovation Day held by BMW on July 19th, BMW and Tencent reached a cooperation on establishing a “high-performance data-driven development platform”. On this platform, BMW will develop autonomous driving technology and products that are more in line with the local market according to the actual needs of China. It can be seen that the decision of both parties to establish a computing center in Tianjin is also one of the specific measures to promote the landing of a high-performance data-driven development platform.
