Brown University's New Strategy Tackles Dendrite Challenge in Solid-State Batteries

From:Internet Info Agency 2026-01-09 10:15:00

Researchers at Brown University have proposed a new strategy that holds promise for addressing the issue of lithium dendrite growth in solid-state batteries. Solid-state batteries are considered the future of energy storage for electric vehicles due to their high safety, fast charging capability, and long range. However, lithium dendrites—metallic filaments that form during high-current charging—can easily penetrate the electrolyte, causing short circuits between the anode and cathode and significantly hindering commercialization. The new approach effectively suppresses dendrite formation by engineering interfacial properties, marking a critical step toward enhancing the performance and safety of solid-state batteries.
