Faurecia (Shanghai) Hydrogen Investment Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of FORVIA Group, has recently secured a strategic investment of RMB 300 million (approximately EUR 40 million) from Chaoyang Hydrogen New Momentum Venture Investment Fund, managed by Sinopec Capital. This move aims to strengthen Faurecia’s presence in China’s hydrogen market and enhance its capabilities in securing government projects and achieving industrial synergy. Since 2020, Sinopec has focused on the entire hydrogen value chain and has invested in 13 related companies. Its hydrogen fund is currently the largest dedicated hydrogen investment fund in China. Faurecia entered China’s hydrogen market in 2021 and has since established R&D centers in Shenyang and Shanghai, as well as acquired controlling stakes in multiple hydrogen storage cylinder production facilities. This partnership will help Faurecia optimize its supply chain, accelerate growth, and further integrate into China’s national hydrogen development strategy. Currently, China produces 36.5 million tons of hydrogen annually, with targets to reach 500,000 hydrogen fuel cell vehicles by 2030 and over 1 million by 2035.
