2027 BMW 7 Series Mid-Cycle Refresh Spied: Subtle Styling Tweaks, Powertrain Upgrades

Recently, overseas automotive media outlet BMW Blog captured spy shots of the mid-cycle refresh (LCI) for the 2027 BMW 7 Series sedan undergoing road testing near the Nürburgring in Germany. The test vehicle was spotted with a license plate not ending in “E,” confirming it as an internal combustion engine (ICE) model. The refreshed 7 Series retains its split-headlight design, features a slightly smaller-looking front grille, a noticeably higher-mounted license plate position, and adds new horizontal trim elements. While the taillight outline remains unchanged, the internal lighting structure has been updated. According to media analysis, BMW is adopting a “new internals, same shell” strategy to control costs, having already made significant investments in new technologies such as iDrive X. Powertrain-wise, the updated 735 will be equipped with a more powerful B58 inline-six engine and, following BMW’s revised naming convention, will drop the “i” suffix. The refreshed model is expected to debut in spring or early summer 2027, with production commencing in July.
