BMW iX4 Spied in Road Tests, Aiming for 2026 Launch to Challenge Model Y

BMW's all-new all-electric coupe SUV, the iX4, was recently spotted undergoing road testing in Europe. It is expected to launch in 2026, directly competing with the Tesla Model Y. As a coupe variant of the iX3, the iX4 features a more dynamic fastback silhouette, a steeply raked windshield, and a distinctive rear spoiler that eliminates the need for a rear wiper. The front fascia retains BMW’s signature kidney grille and “horizontal light signature” headlights. Inside, the iX4 is expected to carry over the iX3’s tech-focused interior, including a 17.9-inch central touchscreen, the “Panoramic Vision Bar,” and a 3D head-up display system. Powertrain details suggest a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup producing up to 463 horsepower, enabling a 0–96 km/h acceleration time of just 4.7 seconds. Paired with a 108.7 kWh battery pack, the iX4 is projected to deliver a WLTP-rated range of up to 805 kilometers.
