According to foreign media reports, the Tesla Model Y sold 22,239 units in Australia in 2023, firmly securing its position as the country's best-selling electric vehicle. The BYD Sealion 07 ranked second with 13,410 units sold, while the Tesla Model 3 came in third with 6,617 units. As Tesla’s global volume leaders, the Model Y and Model 3 not only account for the vast majority of the company’s deliveries but have also demonstrated strong performance in multiple overseas markets. Notably, Tesla exports significant volumes of Model Y and Model 3 vehicles produced at its Shanghai Gigafactory to Australia, meaning that most Tesla EVs sold locally last year likely originated from Chinese production lines.
