Tesla FSD v14.2 Integrates AI Inference Early, Paving Way for "Perceptive" Autonomy

Tesla's latest FSD update, version 14.2.2.2, has already integrated certain AI reasoning capabilities originally scheduled for release in v14.3. According to Ashok Elluswamy, Tesla’s AI lead, these features enable the vehicle to dynamically reroute through construction zones and intelligently select parking spots, allowing for more flexible decision-making. Elon Musk has previously emphasized that this reasoning capability will bring FSD closer to “human-like thinking,” such as automatically locating an available parking space and dropping off passengers at their destination entrance. Although the current version shows early signs of “awareness,” Tesla still advises drivers to remain attentive and supervise the system. Additional reasoning features are expected to roll out gradually throughout the first quarter of this year.
