At CES 2026, Hyundai Motor Group announced that its jointly developed edge AI chip, "Edge Brain," created in collaboration with DEEPX over the past three years, is now ready for mass production. Designed specifically for robotics, the chip features a low-power architecture and enables real-time recognition and decision-making without network connectivity—making it ideal for signal-challenged environments such as underground parking lots and logistics centers, where it delivers faster response times and enhanced safety. Hyundai stated that this move marks a critical step toward building physical AI infrastructure, with plans to deploy the technology in automotive manufacturing and logistics, and eventually expand into airports, hospitals, and other settings. The group also showcased several AI-integrated hardware platforms, including Boston Dynamics’ Atlas humanoid robot, underscoring its strategic focus on AI and robotics. Notably, the transportation section of this year’s CES has clearly pivoted toward AI and robotics, with a significant reduction in concept car displays—a shift reflecting the automotive industry’s broader transformation around AI as the core driver of future growth.
