Toyota and Lexus Hit 2.5 Million U.S. Sales in 2025, Nearly Half Electrified

In 2025, Toyota and Lexus together sold approximately 2.5 million vehicles in the United States, an 8% year-over-year increase. Electrified models—including hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and battery-electric vehicles—accounted for 47% of total sales, with nearly 1.2 million units sold, up 17.6% from the previous year. The Toyota Tacoma achieved record annual sales of 274,638 units, with its hybrid variant surging by 223%. Sales of the Grand Highlander Hybrid also soared by 165% year-over-year. However, some hybrid models, including the RAV4, Corolla Cross, and Venza, saw declining sales. Lexus set a new sales record with 370,260 units sold; its RX and TX plug-in hybrid models performed particularly well, while sales of the all-electric RZ and LS hybrid dropped sharply. Due to the U.S. import tariff hikes implemented in 2025, Toyota anticipates raising prices in 2026 and may face a decline in sales volume.
