Maruti Suzuki, India's largest automaker, plans to invest $3.9 billion to build a new plant in Gujarat, scheduled to commence operations in fiscal year 2029. Once completed, the facility will add up to 1 million vehicles annually to the company’s production capacity, raising its total annual capacity to 2.4 million units. The move aims to meet India’s steadily growing domestic vehicle demand and rising export orders. Maruti Suzuki, majority-owned by Japan’s Suzuki Motor Corporation, currently holds the top position in India’s automotive sales rankings.
