On January 19, Xiaomi Auto responded to two separate incidents. At 17:30 that day, a Xiaomi vehicle was parked at a repair shop in Haikou, Hainan Province, and both the driver and front passenger had left the car. At 17:37, the vehicle caught fire inside; firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, and no injuries were reported. Prior to the vehicle going offline, its traction battery was operating normally. Earlier that afternoon at 16:03, on the Lannan Expressway in Henan Province, a Xiaomi SU7 lost control on snowy, slippery roads while attempting to avoid merging trucks, resulting in a collision. The other vehicle involved fled the scene. After the accident, the Xiaomi vehicle pulled over onto the emergency lane, and all occupants safely evacuated. As of 16:14—just before the vehicle went offline—both the main traction battery and the auxiliary 12V battery were functioning normally. Shortly afterward, the vehicle caught fire, which was also promptly extinguished by firefighters. Xiaomi stated it is fully cooperating with relevant authorities in their investigation and urged the public not to believe or spread rumors.
