In 2025, Toyota sold 1.78 million vehicles in the Chinese market, up 0.2% year-over-year, making it the only Japanese brand to achieve positive growth. Against a backdrop where the new energy vehicle (NEV) penetration rate is approaching 60%, the Camry surpassed 300,000 units in annual sales, while core models such as the RAV4荣放 (RAV4 Wildlander) and Corolla delivered steady performances. Hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) played a significant role, accounting for 35% of total sales. Toyota plans to increase the HEV share to 50% by 2027 and accelerate its electrification transformation, launching more than five dedicated battery-electric vehicle (BEV) models between 2026 and 2027, while also expanding localized battery production to reduce costs. In contrast, Nissan and Honda saw their China sales decline by 6.26% and 24.28%, respectively, with annual sales totaling just 653,000 and 645,300 units.
