Samsung Electronics announced its 2025 Over-Performance Incentive (OPI) plan on January 16. Employees in the Device Solutions (DS) division, which oversees semiconductor operations, will receive bonuses equivalent to 47% of their annual salaries—significantly higher than the 14% awarded in 2024. The bonuses will be paid out on January 30, 2026. The Mobile eXperience (MX) division secured the highest bonus ratio in the company at 50%, driven by strong sales of the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy Z Fold 7. Other sub-units under the DX division, including TVs and home appliances, were uniformly granted a 12% bonus. Meanwhile, management support staff, automotive components employees, and Harman subsidiary workers will receive a 39% bonus. The OPI is a one-time incentive capped at 50% of an employee’s annual salary, with the total payout limited to no more than 20% of the company’s excess profits. The DS division comprises three major segments: memory, foundry, and system LSI. Its substantial bonus reflects strong performance fueled by rising DRAM prices, mass production of HBM3E chips, a ₩22.8 trillion foundry contract with Tesla, and image sensor orders from Apple—collectively contributing approximately 80% of the company’s ₩20 trillion operating profit.
