Despite a 16% year-over-year decline in December 2025 sales, the Tesla Model Y led the European car market that month with 23,911 registrations—marking its second time topping monthly sales rankings this year. However, for the full year, the Model Y ranked only 15th, with annual sales plunging 28% year-over-year to 151,550 units. In contrast, the Dacia Sandero retained its title as Europe’s best-selling car of the year with 243,676 units sold, down 9.8% from the previous year but still claiming the monthly sales crown six times throughout the year. The Renault Clio and Volkswagen T-Roc followed as the second- and third-best-selling models annually. Electrified vehicles showed strong momentum: the BYD Seal U plug-in hybrid saw December sales surge 174% year-over-year, while the all-electric Renault 5 posted annual sales of 81,611 units, securing the 45th position in the yearly rankings.
