Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently revealed that the company's in-house designed AI5 chip is nearing completion, and development of the AI6 chip has already begun. Future chips—from AI7 to AI9—will undergo rapid iterations on a nine-month cycle. The AI5 chip will be manufactured by both Samsung (using 2nm process) and TSMC (using 3nm process), with identical functionality, replacing the current AI4 hardware to power Full Self-Driving (FSD) and the Optimus humanoid robot. Meanwhile, Colossus 2, the supercomputer developed by Musk’s xAI, is now online with a power load exceeding 1 gigawatt (GW). It is expected to reach 1.5 GW in April and ultimately scale up to 2 GW, giving it world-leading training capabilities. Additionally, social media platform X experienced a widespread outage last Friday, but the company did not promptly disclose the cause.
