By the end of December 2025, China had a total of 20.092 million electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure units nationwide, an increase of 49.7% year-on-year, officially surpassing the 20-million mark and establishing the world's largest charging network—capable of supporting the charging needs of over 40 million new-energy vehicles. Among these, there were 4.717 million public chargers with an average power output of 46.53 kW, and 15.375 million private chargers, up 56.2% year-on-year. In recent years, the pace of charging infrastructure deployment has accelerated significantly: it took only 18 months to double the total number from 10 million to 20 million. Meanwhile, charging efficiency has improved by 33%, coverage of EV chargers at highway service areas exceeds 98%, and 19 provinces have achieved full charger coverage in all townships. The National Energy Administration stated it will advance the "Three-Year Doubling Action Plan for EV Charging Infrastructure Service Capacity (2025–2027)" to further accelerate and optimize the layout of the national charging network.
