On January 21, Dongfeng Motor Corporation officially launched and delivered the first product—battery enclosures—from its world’s largest 16,000-ton integrated die-casting production line. Developed jointly by Dongfeng’s R&D General Institute and YueChuang Technology under a “vehicle-component collaboration” mechanism over a 14-month period, these battery enclosures offer higher integration compared to traditional manufacturing processes, enhancing battery system safety, reducing vehicle weight, lowering energy consumption, and extending driving range. With this product entering mass production, Dongfeng has become the first automaker in the industry to achieve full-vehicle integrated die-casting coverage for front, middle, and rear body structures. The die-casting facility, constructed by China Construction Third Engineering Bureau, was completed ahead of schedule in September last year. Phase I of the project, with an investment of RMB 1 billion, features dual production lines of 16,000 tons and 10,000 tons, delivering an annual capacity of 200,000 units. Phase II will add four additional lines, bringing the combined annual capacity of both phases to 600,000 units.
