Recently, Honda CR-V owners across multiple U.S. regions have fallen victim to a new wave of thefts, with criminals specifically targeting radar sensors located in the front grille and steering wheel airbags. New York owner Geeni shared her experience on TikTok, stating that after the radar assembly on her CR-V was stolen, repair costs reached $3,000—and she was disappointed by Honda’s official response. Similar incidents have occurred frequently in cities like Baltimore and Rockville, prompting local police to launch investigations. Repair shops revealed that replacing the radar system costs between $2,000 and $3,000, while thieves can sell the stolen parts on the black market for only about $150. Additionally, some owners reported abnormal battery drain following the thefts. Experts recommend installing security cameras or grille protection devices to reduce the risk.
