Recently, several automakers have disclosed their 2026 sales targets. Xiaomi Auto plans to deliver 550,000 vehicles, a 34% increase from its 2025 target of 410,000 units. BYD has set an overseas sales target of 1.5–1.6 million vehicles, representing year-over-year growth of over 50%. NIO, while not revealing specific figures, expects annual sales growth of 40%–50%. Meanwhile, traditional luxury brands continue to see declining sales in China. In 2025, Porsche, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz reported respective declines of 26%, 12.5%, and nearly 20% in the Chinese market. Toyota, leveraging technologies from emerging Chinese EV players, achieved a modest 0.23% year-over-year increase in China sales in 2025, reaching 1.78 million units. The company plans to launch more than five China-exclusive models between 2026 and 2027. Overall, domestic Chinese brands are accelerating their expansion, while joint ventures and luxury automakers face mounting pressure to transform.
