During his first visit to China recently, Renault Group CEO Luca de Meo stated that the company will not return to selling vehicles in the Chinese market in the short term, citing intense competition and an unsustainable price war. However, he emphasized that Renault is committed to deeply integrating into China’s ecosystem and leveraging local supply chains to enhance its global competitiveness. Currently, Renault maintains strong partnerships with Dongfeng and Geely. In 2024, the company established the ACDC R&D center in Shanghai, positioned as “China-rooted, globally serving.” The center completed development of the Twingo E-Tech electric vehicle in just 21 months—a benchmark for “China speed”—and two additional derivative models are expected to be developed within 16 months. In 2025, Renault achieved global sales of 2.337 million vehicles, up 3.2% year-over-year.
