BMW is set to launch an all-electric M3 and has crafted a bespoke "sound experience" for it. To preserve the auditory thrill synonymous with high-performance vehicles, BMW recorded the sounds of several iconic engines, including the 5.4-liter V10 from the E60 M5 (often mistakenly referred to as the E46 M6), the 4.4-liter naturally aspirated V8 from the E92 M3 GTS, and the 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six from the F82 M4 GTS. These authentic engine sounds will be played through the car’s speakers and blended with the natural acoustic signature of the electric motor to create a unique auditory experience. Although the electric M3 lacks real exhaust notes, the integration of legendary sound elements like the V10 promises excitement. The new model is expected to debut next year, potentially featuring a 108.7 kWh battery pack and a dual-motor setup, while the combustion-engine M models are slated to continue until 2028.
