A federal judge in the United States ruled that the Trump administration’s unilateral termination in February of an electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure program established during the Biden administration was unlawful. U.S. District Judge Tana Lin in Seattle issued the ruling on Friday, stating that the Department of Transportation violated federal law by abruptly canceling the program without following required legal procedures. The program was originally authorized by Congress in 2021 under President Biden to advance the development of a nationwide EV charging network. The decision marks a significant victory for the lawsuit filed jointly by 20 states led by Democratic officials and could lead to the restoration of funding to continue advancing EV infrastructure development.
