Due to persistent price increases, Toyota Motor has paid approximately ¥5.1 trillion in additional costs to its parts suppliers over the past four and a half years. On January 23, Toyota responded to media inquiries on the social media platform X, stating that soaring costs for energy, raw materials, logistics, and labor have made it difficult for domestic Japanese parts suppliers to maintain their original pricing. Toyota warned that if parts prices continue to rise, the company may be forced to increase vehicle prices, which could undermine the price competitiveness of Japanese cars in international markets.
