On January 25, in Xuchang, Henan Province, an electric cargo van pulled away from a charging station after completing its charge, but the charging cable became caught on the vehicle’s rear bumper, yanking the entire charging station to the ground and dragging it along the road. According to the charging station manager, although the driver had reinserted the charging plug into the station, they failed to notice that the cable was entangled. Even after making a brief stop en route, the driver still did not realize anything was amiss. The driver has since contacted the charging station, and both parties are scheduled to meet that afternoon to discuss repair costs and compensation. The charging station stated it only seeks reimbursement for repair expenses, with the exact extent of the damage still under assessment. Authorities are reminding all electric vehicle owners: after charging, always unplug the charging gun, return it properly to its designated spot, and carefully check that the cable isn’t tangled around any part of the vehicle to avoid damaging equipment and incurring unnecessary losses.
