According to data released by the Ministry of Public Security on January 26, by the end of 2025, China had 43.97 million new-energy vehicles (NEVs) in circulation, accounting for 12.01% of the total vehicle fleet. Of these, 30.22 million were battery electric vehicles (BEVs), representing 68.74% of all NEVs. In 2025 alone, 12.93 million new NEVs were registered, making up 49.38% of all newly registered vehicles that year—an increase of 1.68 million compared to 2024, or a year-on-year growth of 14.93%.
