Following the simultaneous departures of the Model 3 and Model Y project managers in January this year, Tesla’s manufacturing team has seen another leadership change. According to foreign media reports, Benjamin Bate, Director of Vehicle Operations and Engineering at Tesla’s Fremont factory, has left the company to join Chemelex, a provider of electric heat-tracing solutions, as Plant Manager. Bate spent nearly eight years at Tesla, serving in roles including Paint Shop Maintenance Manager and Senior Manager of Final Assembly. He began overseeing production of the Model 3 and Model Y in 2020 and was promoted to his most recent position in August 2023. Prior to joining Tesla, he worked at Ford Motor Company for nearly two years. His departure marks yet another exit of a key manufacturing executive from Tesla in recent months, continuing a trend of increased senior-level resignations since the start of 2024.
