Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) system is preparing for its entry into the European market. Recently, a vehicle owner spotted near the U.S.-Mexico border noticed that as the car approached an international boundary, FSD displayed a notification: “Approaching national border—FSD will be temporarily unavailable.” This feature ensures the system operates only within regions where it has received regulatory approval. Given the frequent cross-border travel among European countries, this intelligent border-detection capability is especially crucial. Tesla has already begun FSD testing in countries such as Spain, France, and the UK, while simultaneously advancing regulatory approvals. Although cumbersome administrative procedures remain, this move is widely seen as a strong signal that FSD’s European launch is imminent. To date, FSD has been rolled out in the United States, Canada, Mexico, China, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea.
