In early January 2026, a total of 28 automotive brands in the Russian market raised prices across their entire lineup or on selected models, while two other brands implemented mixed price adjustments (both increases and decreases). The average price increase was approximately 2%, broadly in line with the recent VAT hike to 22%, though some models saw price rises of 3% to 4%. Dealers noted that current prices have not yet fully reflected the additional costs stemming from the newly revised vehicle scrappage and recycling fee. To mitigate the impact of price hikes on sales, some brands have already introduced promotional measures such as subsidized financing and bundled discounts. Industry analysts forecast that in 2026, prices of new vehicles from Russian domestic brands will likely rise by 5% to 10%, while officially imported Chinese-brand vehicles could see increases of 15% to 20%. Prices for parallel-imported vehicles may surge by as much as 50%, primarily due to a combination of factors including exchange rate volatility, geopolitical tensions, and policy adjustments.
