On January 28, NIO rolled out a new version of its "NIO World Model (NWM)," initially covering over 460,000 vehicles equipped with the "Banyan" operating system, with future support planned for the "Cedar" series. This update marks the first time in China that closed-loop reinforcement learning has been applied to intelligent driving assistance, enabling fully model-driven navigation in both urban and highway scenarios. The new version introduces an urban navigation-to-battery-swap feature, supporting more than 2,000 Gen-2 and newer battery swap stations nationwide. The system also enhances lane selection, dynamic obstacle avoidance, efficient lane changes, and navigation through consecutive intersections—delivering smoother, more decisive lane changes while maintaining excellent performance on narrow roads. Additionally, the update adds Intelligent Speed Control (which dynamically adjusts speed based on real-time traffic conditions) and Human-Machine Co-Pilot (enabling seamless transitions when drivers intervene), further improving driving safety and efficiency. NIO emphasized that even customers who purchased their vehicles four years ago can still enjoy these latest technological advancements.
